World Cup - football verb song

Allez, allez!

Did a simple football verb song last week which went down a storm so decided to share it here. (I got the idea from here.)

I introduced the topic of a football verb song to the children then got them to brainstorm possible football verbs in English in groups.  They then fed back to the class and I wrote up on the board any of those I had included in my song.
Next I put up the French verb cards in random order and asked for volunteers to try to match up with the English one.  (I reminded them to look for cognates (not many), or any words they knew already.) Next, we did actions for the verbs before playing Corners, Qui est le papa? and Heads Down.

I put the song text on the IWB and sang the song whilst they followed the text.  Next time it was me singing and them echoing (repetition is built into the song) and finally I sent them away to work on their version of the song in groups.  I encouraged them to think about performance in terms of who would sing which parts, which actions they would do etc and reminded them to work quietly so that their ideas didn’t get stolen by other groups.

They did brilliantly in the time we had and I left the text with the class teacher so that they had a bit more time between then and next week to practise if they wanted.
I plan to record next week and will share if I can.

Update: did some recording today but, not sure how, best one failed to record😔 . Here's the second-best. (Masks of footballers downloaded from (TES.)

Allez song.
